Before and Afters - 05-08-10

Well it was one of those days today... cold, windy and rain... a good day to hide downstairs and work on some things...

I am sure you remember this bench... the before

this was the afterthought... to this

this is what happens when you pair prim and modern...
no too sure about this yet

it is screaming or maybe I just had the music too loud at me to dirty it...
I am going to sleep on that one, what do you think... be honest I promise you won't hurt my feelings...

not exactly the look I was looking for but not as bright...
I sanded and applied ebony stain over top... lesson learned... next time listen to your instincts.

this is the top treatment compliments of Signs of Obsession that I had in mind to do first...
I think this will finish the look nicely...

sometimes it just takes a little thing like this to get me in the mood...

and a great piece to experiment... red stain covered with ebony stain...
okay I like the combo

I bought this in a few colours... I love the fact that it is water based and it washes off easily... it has a thicker consistency and dries quickly... great for this...

from this to...

to this... brushed on... it is showing a little brighter than it actually is...

well that is how I wasted my day away...

Thanks for stopping by... have a great weekend... and to all the Mothers out there... I hope you enjoy your day tomorrow and it is a memorable one...

Hugs to all...

Deb,
I like how the checkerboard looks sanded down.
And that basket came out good! I always use spraypaint on wicker, did you have to brush that on?

Certainly doesn't look like you wasted the day!

Happy Mother's day to you too. I know this one will be bittersweet for you being the first one your Mom is not there. Hope you are having many happy memories of her today, and that your kids are cherishing every moment with YOU today!

The side table looks great with the checkerboard. Like Rose, I've never used anything but spray paint on wicker.

Great projects deb! I'm sorry I didn't get by sooner. No excuse, just been busy.
wondering what you did with the spice bottles of the rack you picked up? Thinking about using mine in the coke crate. ??
I hope your mother's day went okay. I know you miss her terribly. I wish I could say it gets easier. It will eventually, but it won't be any time soon.
