Before and After & Mya Fix

I still have not figured out what happened in the previous post.  I decided to give it one more try and it is working fine again...????

So I thought I would share a quick before and after with you.

This was an old piano stool that was headed to the burn pile by a fellow worker.  I pretty much have all my friends and peers fully trained to not throw anything wood out before checking with me first.  I must say I got a very strange look as to why would you want this ugly thing.  What can you do with that?  ...

This is the top and body of the piano stool (legs were detached at this point)... dirty ole vinyl and you can see the top doesn't quite line up perfectly... but it is solid wood.

solid wood legs... cut down to 14"

new table top made ... I framed out a 12" x 12"  piece of pine and stenciled the checkerboard...

another top made with chalkboard paint...

painted some old handles...for easy transport

full view of tops added... now a perfect little child's work table or lap desk...

tops can be removed and used independently with storage underneath for books and crayons etc...

and the...

final cost... $0.00

All the pieces used were scraps (that would have landed in the garbage)
that had been given to me.

Now for the Mya Fan Club... seems I can't do a post without it anymore.   We got to spend the whole day with her on Saturday... I loved every minute of it.

Sharing the doll cradle with Dora...lol

has to get that blanket on just right...

she finally decided that she likes her doll house shelf...

this kept her busy for a good hour or so... putting things in and taking them back out.

and a good ole belly laugh... no one can make her laugh this hard except Poppi...
she is at that fun age now where her sweet little personality is as unique as she is... I never thought being a Gramma would be this much fun.

Sorry for hanging you on for so long... hope you have a great week.

Hugs,

The Ugly Room Reveal

Are you ready folks...

The "Ugly Room" is ready for it's big reveal.  If you want to catch up on the other phases of this saga, click on these links...

This 10' x nothing room has literally exhausted me and my savings.   Things that I thought would work... didn't.   Things that I really wanted to work... wouldn't.  I ended up having carpet installed in all three bedrooms and the hallway leading to them.  The remainder of the makeover was either re-vamped or thrifted.

the vanity... before

It doesn't require too much imagination to improve on these images ~
anything would be a major improvement...

Let's start at the beginning... before

In case I forgot to tell you the plan...

this space was created for Gramma and Mya to make special memories...

whether it be rocking in the chair...

reading a story...

or wondering what adventure these two little ones are off to...

while we snuggle under the quilt...

or play make believe with the little doll house shelf...

or read Gramma's blog at the new desk made from the old vanity...

or admire all the treasures on the re-vamped cubby shelf...

or contemplate some inspirational sayings on the new chalkboard...

or watch time pass us by on the thrifted clock...

or maybe we can do some crafts...

or play with Gramma's childhood doll...

or play with blocks...
or spell her name with the letters Gail of My Re-purposed Life so kindly donated last year.

No Gail, I didn't forget about them and the colours couldn't have been more perfect...

(the bookshelf will be getting a new paint job when the weather warms up and I can use my sprayer in the garage)

So folks this is what I have procrastinated about for 6 loooooong years...

now it is time to purge this chapter and carry on to the next room...

So what do you think...

is it a fitting space for a beautiful little Princess to share some
special moments with her favourite Gramma?

or do you think she will be disappointed?

or be so excited, she'll want to call all her friends...

or give Gramma big kisses for at least trying hard...

Our sweet little angel is growing up...

Howdy folks... sorry I have been MIA lately, not much to post about these days.

It has been awhile since I have updated you on our little monkey... so here's a glimpse of our cute Miss Mya.   She is such a sweet, happy little baby girl... but growing up way too fast.

Mya had her first cold last month.  She was such a trooper and has nicely recovered now and back to her sweet little self.  She didn't quite know what hit her as she had never been sick up to then.

She has caught up to where she should be in size and is far too smart for her own good...lol.  She adores Dora and loves to watch her as she rocks away in her chair.  She is getting stingy with the smiles these days or you could have seen all of her 6 teeth.  She hasn't decided to walk just yet, but it will be coming shortly.

where did the baby go?

look Gramma, no feet...

watching Dora... always has that tongue out... lol

just chillin in my new chair Gramma found me...

still have those gorgeous baby blues...

tormenting Tigger... but very gently

 so serious...

okay enough with the pictures...

can't you see I'm busy...

Poppi and I took her this Dora backpack on Saturday and she hasn't stopped playing with it since.  Doesn't take much to please them at this age.

I finally finished painting all the baseboards and doors in the kitchen... nope still haven't got to those cupboards yet.   However I did order the Command Max sprayer and I have 10 days off at Christmas, so I have a sneaky feeling something in my house is getting painted but I just haven't decided what's up next... I will keep you posted.

I am still trying to find some Christmas spirit, but it just isn't happening... I don't know if it has been the mild weather we have been experiencing, or what it is.  I haven't finished my shopping... no tree up yet... although I did manage to get few things out over the weekend.  I was hoping that would get me into gear, but it still wasn't working.  I am trying not to stress myself out about it, but this is ridiculous.  Does anyone have any dynamite I might borrow?.

Am I the onlyone feeling like this, this year?

This is my favourite time of year and I'm afraid it is going to be over before I even get started.

Got any good tricks up your sleeve?  How do you get in the mood?

Hope you are all having a great week.

Thanks for popping in...

Hugs, Deb

Happy Birthday Lil' Miss Mya

Happy Birthday my sweet angel...

I can't tell you how much joy this little one has brought to my life...

she likes it... Mya, likes it... it might be awhile before her feet hit the pedals though...

okay if you want me to be a Princess hurry up... it isn't going to last long

loving her Dora cake...

 a little too much...

Look Gramma, I ate the whole thing...

okay, time for presents...

Poppi bought these little moccasins for her... aren't they the cutest?

WOW what a day... who knew birthdays were so much fun...

I think I could do this every week...

Thanks again to all her supporters and fans along the way... we couldn't have done it without all your prayers, God is listening... she is doing great... catching up quickly now... two bottom teeth ... crawls around like a bullet... starting to pull herself up on anything within reach... weighing in at 17.5 lbs... and an absolutely happy, healthly and beautiful little angel.

Have a great day everyone... thanks for stopping by.

It can't be, already...

Can you believe a year has passed since Miss Mya was born...

Tomorrow (August 23rd) the little munchkin is going to be a year old.

She is quite the dynamo baby... moving and shaking all over the house... she doesn't stay still.

I couldn't resist this little gem, how perfect for her.  If I start her off early appreciating vintage pieces maybe I will have a memory hunter buddy later... just like Driving Miss Daisy...lol.

what a great repro...

I gave it the ole' Gramma touch with the help of the Cricut Machine...

a little reminder everytime she opens the lid...
