New Finds (10-15-2009)

Well it has been a very productive week thrift shopping... here a few of the new treasures I found...

a small crock lamp... it sits nicely on my Hoosier

saltglaze vase or candle holder... a small Canadian made jug crock... this is my favourite pottery finish

Miss Penny Chick got a new bonnet... the perfect size shade... it even matches the bottom  of the lamp

bamboo shelf with black porcelain hook

a "sweet corn" basket

A handmade Trestle side table... or could be used as a bench also

Handmade child's wagon... or could be used as a planter for the deck

wrought iron and open scrolled clock

poor pic sorry... wrought iron double candle sconce

a solid brass clock with revolving thingys... there is a name for this clock and I cannot remember for the life of me... it is etched on the sides also... German made clock... a few more pottery pieces... a wrought iron 3 tier plate stand

BoBbiN LaMp

I am sure if you are into primitives you have seen these little gems...

Before

I took apart a pair of old lamps and used the top half to make these lamps... added a prim berry ring with rag balls and a lamp shade that I also had hanging around collecting dust... the greatest little accent lamp...these are keepers for sure....

this is another one... found the beaded shade on one of my thrift store hunts... I love the glow it gives to the light

Lamp Facelift...

I found two of these solid oak base lamps... it was almost a shame to paint... but what's a girl to do?

Nah... not the look I was hoping for...

close up

Oh yeah... that is more like the prim look I was looking for...

Complete with shade... and ready to find a new home... oops it did...

(check out the antique cherry  Cello table... I have never seen one before... of course that went home to my living room along with the lamp I might add)..

Shabby girls close your eyes...

this lamp just reminded me of an umbrella... I just couldn't fall in love with it... all you shabby girls wipe your tears...

several coats of red - black - red  - black - antique metallic paint - it came to life... then it was time to tackle the shade...I think that was one of the easiest things I have ever painted...

Now that is more like it...not bad for a "shabby" little lamp... tip... to add a little interest to a plain lamp... add a berry ring

(don't be looking in the corner for dust bunnies, Mom... I chased them out of there before I took the picture)
