New Finds - 05-17-2010

I headed over to my DBF's place in the states for a well needed weekend away. We did a lot of garage saling and I finally got my mojo back and got quite a few makeovers completed.  The nice thing while I am over there is I am not bogged down with other chores that I know should take priority over playing.  I can totally concentrate on what I am doing and not feel guilty about doing it.

These are some of the garage sale finds I found...

A perfect prim piece...

it was already made into a lamp...
I am not in love with that shade but that came with it...
I am on the look out for a checked shade...
another thing on my list of wants.

I can't resist old wooden boxes of any kind...
the nice lady I bought this from said she had it for 40 years and it was old when she bought it...
for $8.00 I sure wasn't leaving it behind.

check out the date on this beauty... a steal for $5.00

A few more pieces I found at the same sale...
nothing here was over $1.00... score
Don't you just love that old hand made bell...
the large trivet is signed and if turned upward I think it is a rooster.

Another great haul... we found an estate sale along the way and am I glad we did...
the books are brand new... .25 cents each... little basket .25 cents... 34 handturned acorns...$2.00
artist brushes .50 cents for the lot...  wood checkered trinket box... .50 cents

yeap that is correct... $1.50 for the complete box of these... perfect for organizing.

I found this little handmade spice box on Ebay...
it was just the piece to get me started again...
I opened the box and 5 seconds later I was opening a can of paint...
I love when that happens.

just testing the new porcelain knob...

I found this in the bottom of a bin... I find some my greatest treasures digging...
and guess what the price was a whole .50 cents... BONUS

thank goodness I don't listen to my BF... he did not like this nice vintage wooden frame... of course I cleaned the gunk off before I took this pic and it got a nice facelift... a steal for .50 cents

a nice old pair of ladies skates... $1.00

a couple of vintage wooden handle kitchen utensils... freebe

my friend gave me this black walnut Eastlake piece awhile back...
It finally got a make over this weekend too.

another new wooden oval frame... .50 cents

love this guy... $2.00

and if I don't stop dragging stuff home this is exactly what I am going to be needing... lol

Well that's it for this show folks, hope you enjoyed coming along for the ride...
stay tuned tomorrow,
I will share all the makeovers of these pieces.

Hope you are all having a great day...

Hugs,
