HANDMADE GAMEBOARDS

These boards were just the thing to get me motivated to start crafting and revamping 5 years ago...it is now my favourite past time. I have always loved old gameboards but I could never afford to buy the real ones... so what does a junker girl do... you learn how to make them, silly... when I started doing these there wasn't a board safe within a mile radius... I crackled them... I painted them...I used masking tape to do the squares... I grunged them...it would take me a day to make one (a true labour of love)... you soon learn how much time you waste doing things on the cheap... I have now invested in some stencils and I can knock one off in about 3 hours and still have some time left over for other pieces... lesson learned you either waste your time or waste your money...
I love to "dirty" stuff but I just couldn't bring myself to grunge this one... this one hangs in my hallway

Backgammon Board... this one didn't escape the grunge treatment

this is one of my favourites... it is from an old beat up cutting board... they make the greatest gameboards

this is one of the first ones I made

I copied this one from an old time gameboard that they made many years ago out of scrap...the game pieces are rubber mason jar rings found at a GS...

an old cutting board I found at a GS... Margo "Robolady" actually featured this on her blog in her project of the week... it is in her archives to this day...

Side view

I painted everyone of those lines by hand... took me hours to do this one

another one of my fav's... this hangs in my house and will for a very long time... raw umber gives it the "dirty" look... my friends laugh at me because I am a clean freak but I like my treasures "dirty"... must be from playing in the mud as a child...

this board had a major flaw in it so I just worked it into to the design (SOLD)
(TIP: start with something you love... I learned so many lessons doing these boards... I use a lot of these techniques to this day)

I added a little shelf with velcro for displaying... take it off to play

for the red lovers...

a little different style... this was a celtic drum originally

small cutting board... gone sheepish (SOLD)

another red...

for the real prim lover

for the crow lover

another red one with crows...

made from a thrifted sleigh...

you can make a gameboard out of any board... the sky is the limit
(Sold)
can you find the black sheep... there is one in every family...

Another Tic Tac Toe board made from a cutting board
