Thou Shall Not Covet Your Sweetie's Gift....

Have you ever bought something for someone that you have wanted so badly for yourself?

Mr. D. like most men I am sure, is one of the hardest people to buy for. He has almost one of everything you could possibly buy in a lifetime and after 15 years together I have finally run out of ideas... so this year I bought him what I loved... good idea...right?... WRONG!

I have had my eye on this beauty for the past couple of years... that is the nice thing about primitive, it never goes out of style. I drooled so long, the price had finally come way down to an affortable level... so what do I do, buy it for him... instead of me.

What was I thinking... who knew it was going to be so beautiful and fit perfectly on my lovely primitive sleigh bed... and be right at home with my homemade blanket crane and all my other primitive pieces in the room.

I desperately tried to justify why it would look much better on my bed than his... to the point where Mr. D. was starting to feel quilty about taking it home and so he should... mission accomplished... right?   Well not exactly, I just couldn't do it. I even offered to trade him another quilt of equal quality, which he was quite happy to oblige me, but I still couldn't do it.  If I could have only erased those two little words "Indian Giver" out of my head I may have been able to pull it off...

I actually shed a tear as he loaded her into the van and drove off into the sunset with MY quilt... note to self, next year fish bait or something smelly...

You're a bigger woman than I am. I'd have traded him in a skinny minute. I love that set and it would look perfect in my bedroom. Can you share where you bought it? Now back to the original question. Yes, I've coveted something I bought for someone else ..... so much so that I went back and bought one for myself. lol

Hope you and Mr. D have a great New Year

LOL.... I think we've all done that before. Well just look at it when you head to his place, you'll be able to enjoy it also :) It's just not with you all the time. I agree, next year.....fishing items lol :)

Next time you will have to buy 2, one for you and one for him (I know easier said then done)

Happy New Year my new friend!

I wouldn't have even given it to him, LOL. I think fish bait sounds like a great idea for next year!

I feel your pain, that set is sooo pretty! (too pretty for a guy? have you used that argument yet?)
At least you can go visit it. And he better be taking good care of it, or you will just have to rescue it from him!
