For the love of friends...

Wow what a bittersweet month this has been.

About a month ago my dear friends that have a Sub-Shop were robbed mid-afternoon. The coward not only robbed them of them of their hard earned money but also of their lives as they knew it. You can read the story about it here and here.

Upon hearing the sad news, Kimberly (L) stepped up to the plate and rallied all of Murph's customers and friends together to start a  fundraiser for him to show how much they cared.

Local businesses and the community donated everything to make this event happen this past weekend.  Local bands, comedians, photographers and even the local politicians came out to offer their support.  Mother Nature also co-operated with sunshine for the event.
It was so touching to see the outpouring of love for my dear friends...
It was quite overwhelming for them.

these are just some of the angels that donated their day to help out Murph...

this young sweetheart had a voice like an angel...
she works at the Bagel shop across the street...

some of the awesome entertainment that was provided for our enjoyment...

I made a PB KO "Alphabet" board to raffle...
it was a big hit, as you can see one of the volunteers putting his ticket in the bucket...

close up of the board...

this is Murph's wife and me (r) we have been the best of friends for over 40 years...
I was so happy to share their special day with them.

these cards are full size bristol board that have been filled on both sides over the past month...
a friend had them laminated and they are now displayed on the sub-shop wall.

The event was such a huge success it made the local papers and the news media.

If Murph and Demetrea didn't know they were loved before there was no doubt in anyone's mind after Saturday.

I'm so glad you got to go and be there. That is so awesome how the community all came together for Murph and the family. It is nice to see such close knit communities still. :) And yes you do look great and very tan. Maybe one of these day's I'll catch up to you lol.

Reading stories about people coming together always give me "warm fuzzies". I have always known that there are more good people out there than bad, stories like this help to remind us all!

Aww, how heartwarming to see the community come together and bring this kind couple back up after such an awful thing. I hope they catch that crook.
You look very pretty Deb in the sunshine and shades:) A lucky person to win one of your boards for sure.
