I had this desk sitting in the corner of my garage for several years now. It had no real purpose other than it was a flat surface that seemed to do nothing but collect unnecessary junk.
I tried the saw on a fold out table and it was too high, plus the table was way too big for the area. I knew the height of the desk would be perfect for what I needed, but the top was a couple inches too short. Nothing like trying to sleep to get the ole brain working again... the light bulb went off. Remove the original top and replace it with a bigger one.
It worked and the best part was I had this piece of wood sitting in that dreaded corner just waiting for a reason to use it. I used the original clamps and screws, bolted the saw to it and viola a new stand.
I have a small working area on the right and all my clamps fit neatly inside the shelf. How much better can it get.
Not only did I get a new stand out of the deal, but it gave me the incentive to get this corner organized and clean the rest of my garage...now if it would just stay like this I would be a happy girl.
Note the workbench on the left... I found that at a garage sale, it was the end of the day and obviously hadn't sold... so the guy had $5.00 on it. Never, ever follow a woman too close, you just never know when those brakes are going to get slammed on...lol
Not only did I get the workbench but also a router, grinder, vice, all the organizer bins, rolls and books of 3M sandpaper in several different grits, sandpaper for a belt sander that I just happen to have... plus numerous handtools and hardware. That was the deal of the year for sure.
the before
I couldn't close without at least one before and after... OB is earning his salt already... I found this on my memory hunt while I was on holidays...
the after...
I cut the end off with the hole... painted let dry a bit then wiped off, added a leather tie...
now you have a well used scoop... 10 minute project
Hope you are all having a great day...
Thanks so much for stopping by.
Hugs,

Nice job making the Orange Beast a table. I am drooling over your clean organized garage, that is one project that is still not finished at my house, and I'm not talking DUST!
Love the way you made do with what you had. Isn't it satisfying to find that what you already have works so well? Your garage looks great. It will make a nice space for you to work with the OB.
The wooden scoop looks great. Love the color with the color of your step stool.
wow! see, there's no stopping you now! You changed up that scoop, with one quick "slice" :)
that garage! I'm so jealous! Even at it's best, mine never looked so good.
Funny story--for a month I have had to move MANY things out of the way when I wanted to use the table saw. Then I would wheel the saw to the driveway. I did this too many times!
over the weekend, I did it for the LAST time. Talk about your Light Bulb moment! I did a little shifting, and now the table saw is the first thing I see when I open the garage door. Now when I need to saw, voila! no prob bob! Second in line is the miter saw.
great job on making a nice new home for the OB

Nice, nice, nice! Organizing going on here to... company's coming and we don't want them to see the "real" us - lol. And don't you just love quick fixes? Makes all that work organizing a little more worthwhile, eh?
well...looky there...great place for that and all that other stuff too...I need that burst of energy please...
Execllent! I love the title of your post, as well as the contents. It's so easy to just go out and "buy" (provided you have the money, of course), but how much more fun is it to make what you want? I'm so glad to meet you and look forward to following you, as well!
